De figuren in het werk van Panos Mitsopoulos staan vaak in begrensde ruimtes, op zoek naar een doorgang naar de ruimte van onbegrensde mogelijkheden. Een terugkerend element in zowel de schilderijen als de installaties van Mitsopoulos is de kleur geel. Geel, als kleur van de gekooide kanarie, fungeert als een krachtig symbool van een begrensd bestaan, vaak weergegeven achter zichtbare of onzichtbare tralies. De ‘Passage’ speelt zich af in de ruimte tussen de comfortabele kooien van het alledaagse en is zo een metafoor voor de periodes van verandering tijdens het leven die ons dichter bij de essentie van ware vrijheid brengen.
The figures in the work of Panos Mitsopoulos often stand in confined spaces, searching for a passage to the space of unlimited possibilities. A recurring element in both Mitsopoulos’ paintings and installations is the color yellow. Yellow, as the color of the caged canary, functions as a powerful symbol of a confined existence, often depicted behind visible or invisible bars. The ‘Passage’ takes place in the space between the comfortable cages of the everyday and is thus a metaphor for the periods of change in life that bring us closer to the essence of true freedom.al period of transformation - and perhaps, for the essence of true freedom.
Οι φιγούρες στο έργο του Πάνου Μητσόπουλου συχνά στέκονται σε περιορισμένους χώρους, αναζητώντας ένα πέρασμα προς τον χώρο των απεριόριστων δυνατοτήτων. Ένα επαναλαμβανόμενο στοιχείο τόσο στους πίνακες όσο και στις εγκαταστάσεις του Μητσόπουλου είναι το κίτρινο χρώμα. Το κίτρινο, ως το χρώμα του κλουβιού καναρινιού, λειτουργεί ως ένα ισχυρό σύμβολο μιας περιορισμένης ύπαρξης, που συχνά απεικονίζεται πίσω από ορατά ή αόρατα κάγκελα. Το «Πέρασμα» λαμβάνει χώρα στον χώρο ανάμεσα στα άνετα κλουβιά της καθημερινότητας και αποτελεί επομένως μια μεταφορά για τις περιόδους αλλαγής στη ζωή που μας φέρνουν πιο κοντά στην ουσία της αληθινής ελευθερίας.
